Eugene, OR – The Eugene Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit (SCU) arrested 35-year-old Adam Cole Young following an investigation into illicit narcotics and firearms at a residence in the 200 block of West 37th Avenue.

Officers observed Young driving near the residence and engaging in a dispute during which he rear-ended his girlfriend’s vehicle and chased her onto Willamette Street. An SCU officer intervened, and Young fled back to the residence.

He was later apprehended by another officer while attempting to escape out the back of the house. Young’s girlfriend was uninjured and declined to pursue charges.

A search warrant was obtained for Young’s bedroom and vehicle. Officers recovered approximately 62 grams of methamphetamine, two loaded handguns, a stolen rifle, and training equipment stolen from a visiting college athletics team valued at more than $1,000, specifically Rutgers Track and Field.

Young was booked into the Lane County Jail on multiple charges, including:

  • Possession/Manufacture of Methamphetamine – Commercial Drug Offense

  • Three counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm

  • Two counts of Theft in the First Degree – Receiving

  • Elude by Vehicle

  • Reckless Driving

The Eugene Police Department emphasized the role of the SCU in targeting criminal activity and recovering illegal firearms and narcotics from the community.
