19-year-old taken into custody on drug and weapon charges after early morning contact at Skinner Butte Park
Eugene, OR – A Eugene Police officer arrested a man at Skinner Butte Park early Saturday morning after discovering a loaded firearm and a large quantity of illegal drugs during a routine enforcement of park rules.
Around 7:30 a.m. on July 12, the officer—who was working overtime to enforce park regulations—approached a vehicle with two individuals who were camping overnight, a violation of city rules. As the officer made contact, he observed psilocybin mushrooms and jars of marijuana in plain view inside the vehicle.
After receiving consent to search the vehicle, the officer uncovered a significant cache of controlled substances and other items, including approximately 3.78 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, more than 24 grams of cocaine, over 198 grams of butane hash oil, 1.69 pounds of marijuana, 31 Xanax bars, packaging materials, and a loaded handgun with ammunition.
One of the occupants, identified as 19-year-old Logan Michael Siddons, was taken into custody and lodged at Lane County Jail. He faces multiple charges including outstanding warrants, unlawful possession of cocaine and other controlled substances (all commercial drug offenses), unlawful possession of a Schedule IV drug, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
In addition to the criminal charges, Siddons was cited for violating park rules and has been barred from entering any City of Eugene parks or open spaces.
