37-year-old man cited for DUII, reckless driving after crash into power pole
Eugene, OR – A 37-year-old man was cited following a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning that ended with a pickup truck lodged between a power pole and a bush near a residential area.
At approximately 6:36 a.m. on June 25, Eugene Police responded to reports of a crash involving a Chevrolet Colorado at Green Acres Road and Delta Oaks Drive. Officers arrived to find the vehicle wedged against a Eugene City power pole, with its front end buried in a large bush about 30 feet from a nearby home.
The driver, identified as Mitchell Allen Gould, was assisted out of the vehicle by an officer through the front passenger door. Officers suspected Gould was impaired, and after being evaluated by medics, he was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII).
A subsequent search uncovered a quantity of cocaine, prompting assistance from a Springfield Police Drug Recognition Expert. Gould was cited in lieu of custody for DUII, Reckless Driving, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine, a misdemeanor drug enforcement charge. He was also cited for driving uninsured and driving while suspended.
No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
