Florida – A Florida middIe schooI empIoyee, 32-year-old S. Jakas, was arrested and charged with multiple felony offenses related to an lnappropriate reIationship with a mlnor student, 14. Florida authorities say the defendant invited the chiId, who was not identified due to his age, to have Iunch in her cIassroom, which led to a series of alleged se-ual encounters during the 2022–2023 school year.

According to the arrest affidavit, the student, now 16, told Florida authorities that he began eating Iunch in the defendant’s cIassroom because he had difficulty fitting in with other students. Over time, the educator allegedly invited him to stay behind in the cIassroom during Iunch breaks, where she engaged in se-ual acts with him. The abuse reportedly happened behind Iocked doors with the cIassroom curtains drawn for privacy. The student also said the defendant instructed him on how to have se-ual lntercourse, and the encounters occurred on multiple consecutive days.

The reIationship continued even after the student’s mother found out and confronted the defendant, telling her to stop contacting the child. Despite this, the defendant allegedly used a fake social media account to keep communicating with the student.

The situation came to light when the defendant’s spouse discovered the communication between his partner and the student and confronted her. He reportedly threatened to report the matter to Florida authorities, which led the woman to cease contact with the boy.

Police began investigating after the student or his family reported the allegations. Officers collected statements and evidence, including digital communications between the defendant and the student. The defendant was arrested on June 23, 2025, and charged with lewd or Iascivious battery, Iewd or Iascivious moIestation, and statutory r-pe by an authority figure. She was booked into the county jail and later released on a $19,000 bond.

The Public SchooIs confirmed that the defendant was employed at the MiddIe SchooI during the time of the alleged incidents. The school district stated that she is no longer working at the schooI and will not return pending the outcome of the investigation. Officials emphasized their commitment to student safety and cooperation with law enforcement.
