Eugene offers free weekly heritage rose garden tours through summer

on

Eugene, OR – The City of Eugene Parks and Open Space is once again partnering with the Eugene Heritage Rose Group to host weekly guided tours at the Owen Rose Garden.

The seasonal tours are free to the public and take place every Saturday from May through September.

Led by knowledgeable volunteer docents, each one-hour tour begins at 10 a.m. at the garden’s covered pergola.

The tours highlight the garden’s extensive collection of heritage roses—some of the oldest cultivated varieties in the world, distinct from modern hybrids. Owen Rose

Garden is recognized for hosting one of the largest collections of these classic blooms in the Pacific Northwest.

Organizers say the program not only educates visitors on the history and cultivation of heritage roses but also supports the City’s Culture of Belonging strategic goal by creating welcoming, community-centered events.

No reservations are required, and all are encouraged to attend. Those interested in becoming a volunteer docent themselves can contact Eugene Parks and Open Space at [email protected] for more information.

Tour dates and other events are available on the city’s Parks calendar.
