Fire destroys home and outbuilding near Dorris Ranch, all residents safe

Eugene, OR – Eugene Springfield Fire crews responded early Tuesday morning to a house fire on the 600 block of Dorris Street, near Dorris Ranch. The call came in just before 4 a.m. on May 28, prompting a full response from fire personnel.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a fully involved structure fire that had spread to an adjacent outbuilding. Despite the intensity of the flames, all occupants of the residence were safely accounted for, authorities confirmed.
The property lies outside Springfield city limits but falls within the Willakenzie Fire District, which contracts with the City of Springfield for fire services. Willakenzie is one of seven fire or water districts served by Eugene Springfield Fire under various service agreements.
Crews remained on scene through the morning hours to extinguish hot spots and prevent the fire from spreading further. Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the blaze, and no injuries have been reported.
Officials are reminding residents in surrounding districts of the importance of working smoke alarms and updated emergency response plans.
An investigation into the origin of the fire is ongoing.
