Eugene, OR – Officers from the Eugene Police Department are in the nation’s capital this week to take part in National Police Week, a solemn and meaningful tradition that honors law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.

As part of their participation, Eugene officers had the distinct honor of escorting and forming a ceremonial cordon for the families of fallen officers. The powerful and emotional moment followed a formal ceremony and underscored the department’s continued commitment to honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Eugene Police Department expressed pride in having its members represent the community during this national observance, helping to support grieving families and pay tribute to fallen heroes from across the country.

National Police Week is held each May and includes a series of events in Washington, D.C., including memorial services, candlelight vigils, and ceremonial tributes attended by thousands of officers and families nationwide.
