EPD officers responded to over 100 fireworks complaints on July 4th, officials said
Eugene, OR – According to the statement, the police department reportedly staffed two officers dedicated to fireworks patrol on July 4, responding to complaints and self-dispatching to fireworks they observed while on patrol. According to one officer, the individuals they contacted were cooperative and receptive.
Numerous warnings were given, with no indications of repeat offenders, and no citations were issued. Many calls were cleared after the officers arrived and did not find fireworks in progress.
A quick hand count by Central Lane 911 recorded between 100 and 130 calls in the system reporting illegal fireworks between 9 p.m. on July 4 and 2 a.m. on July 5.
