Man arrested for theft of youth league funds, police seek tips
Eugene, OR – Eugene police arrested a 38-year-old Springfield man on September 10 following an investigation into the theft of a local youth football league’s entire fund balance.
The stolen funds, estimated at $50,000, left a Bethel-area league without money for proper equipment for its participants.
At the time of the theft, the suspect served as the league’s treasurer.
He faces charges of aggravated theft in the first degree and misapplication of entrusted property – embezzlement.
Because the suspect has been involved in other sports programs, the detective assigned to the case is asking the public to come forward with any additional information about potential unreported incidents.
Anyone with tips is asked to contact Detective Chris White at 541-682-5376 or via email at [email protected].
