Eugene Police Department joins Torch Run to support Special Olympics and celebrate inclusion
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Police Department took part in a Torch Run supporting Special Olympics, with officers helping carry the torch in a show of support for inclusion, empowerment, and athletes of all abilities.
The department said officers “hit the pavement” to take part in the event, continuing a tradition that brings law enforcement and communities together to support Special Olympics programs.
Eugene Police thanked everyone who participated along the route, including those who cheered, ran, volunteered, and supported the event.
Officials said the department was honored to be part of the tradition and highlighted the importance of celebrating the achievements and abilities of Special Olympics athletes.
The Torch Run is a long-running partnership between law enforcement agencies and Special Olympics organizations, helping raise awareness and support for athletes with intellectual disabilities while strengthening connections between officers and the communities they serve.
