Authorities investigate hit-and-run crash involving bicyclist struck by stolen truck in Eugene

Eugene, OR – Authorities in Eugene are investigating a hit-and-run crash involving a bicyclist who was struck by a vehicle in the afternoon of May 20.

According to the Eugene Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 1:28 p.m. when a bicyclist was traveling south in the bicycle lane on High Street and was struck by a truck traveling east on E. 15th Avenue.

Officials said the bicyclist was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately after the collision, prompting a police search.

Investigators later located the truck in an unoccupied parking lot near E. 17th Avenue and Alder Street.

Police determined the vehicle had been reported stolen.

Authorities also reported that both occupants of the vehicle were described as wearing black hoodies and face masks at the time of the incident.
