27-year-old man arrested in Eugene for DUII, reckless driving, and eluding police
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Police Department arrested 27-year-old Francisco Cristobal Manuel on multiple charges following a traffic incident on March 24.
Officials said a Housing Support officer observed Manuel driving a Toyota Camry erratically near W. 7th Avenue and Garfield Street.
The vehicle accelerated, skidded on wet pavement, and narrowly missed a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Manuel continued eastbound, swerving within his lane and nearly colliding with another vehicle.
When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Manuel initially failed to comply and continued driving before finally stopping near W. 5th Avenue and Polk.
He was taken into custody after refusing commands, while a 49-year-old male passenger, who had been picked up earlier at a service station on Highway 99, was also detained.
Following an investigation, Manuel was arrested for eluding police, driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII), reckless driving, and reckless endangerment. His vehicle was impounded.
