Eugene Springfield Fire highlights crew with all members from BLS program
Eugene, OR – Engine 4 of the Eugene Springfield Fire Department is staffed entirely with individuals who began their careers through the department’s Basic Life Support (BLS) program.
Started in 2016, the BLS program was created to address increasing demand for non-life-threatening medical calls. Many BLS technicians go on to full-time positions as firefighters or single-role EMS staff.
This marks the first time a full crew has all members who started through the BLS program. Interested individuals can learn more about starting a career in the program by visiting the city’s website.
