Eugene Springfield Fire responds to house fire in rural Santa Clara neighborhood
Eugene, OR – Eugene Springfield Fire (ESF) responded as automatic aid to a house fire in the 500 block of Delay Drive on the evening of December 29.
Callers reported at approximately 9:15 p.m. that the fire started in the chimney area of the home and was spreading quickly. Ladder 11 from ESF’s Santa Clara station arrived to find heavy flames coming from a small two-story home, with the fire spreading to a nearby structure.
Crews worked to contain the fire and search for potential victims. The blaze was brought under control with no injuries to residents or firefighters.
Suppression efforts were challenging due to narrow roads and the absence of nearby hydrants. Crews relied on water from responding engines until a 3,000-gallon water tender arrived. Lane Fire Authority (LFA) crews, initially committed to other calls, later assisted in completing mop-up and investigation tasks.
