Eugene Springfield Fire controls grass fires with assistance from Oregon Department of Forestry
Eugene, OR – On August 10, Eugene Springfield Fire crews responded to two separate grass fires in Springfield, Oregon. The first fire was reported just after 4:30 p.m. near Deadmond Ferry Road, close to Riverbend Hospital.
Firefighters encountered a fast-moving blaze in dense vegetation and mounted an aggressive attack. They were able to stop the fire’s progress at about three-quarters of an acre.
The Oregon Department of Forestry assisted Eugene Springfield Fire crews, who remained on scene to mop up the area. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Less than an hour later, just before 5:30 p.m., crews were dispatched to a second grass fire near Grenada Mobile Home Park on the 5300 block of Daisy Street. Upon arrival, firefighters found flames burning in a ditch behind a fence, which spread to a shed within the mobile home park.
The fire was quickly contained to the shed. Authorities are also investigating the cause of this fire.
Both incidents highlight the quick and coordinated response of Eugene Springfield Fire and partner agencies in protecting the community and limiting damage.
