Eugene Springfield fire crews respond to apartment building fire with no injuries
Eugene, OR – On July 31 at 10:33 a.m., Eugene Springfield Fire (ESF) crews responded to reports of smoke in a four-story apartment building with a basement.
When the initial Battalion chief arrived, there was no visible fire, but crews inside reported light smoke. The chief immediately upgraded the response to a full apartment fire alarm.
Firefighters conducted simultaneous searches in the basement and on the first and second floors.
Crews in the basement discovered an active room and contents fire, which was quickly extinguished. Meanwhile, adjacent crews searched for occupants and checked for fire extension.
The fire was brought under control, and efforts were underway to remove smoke from the building.
Deputy fire marshals arrived on scene to investigate the fire’s origin. No injuries were reported. Eugene Police Department assisted with swift traffic control in the area.
