Eugene Springfield Fire crews responded to house fire on 51st Street, no injuries reported

Eugene, OR – Per reports, crews responded to house fire in east Springfield.
Firefighters were alerted to the blaze at 10:50 p.m., located in the 100 block of 51st St. Initial reports indicated a fire in the backyard extending to the deck.
Engine 14 arrived approximately 3-1/2 minutes after dispatch to find heavy flames engulfing the back of the house and extending into the attic.
Access to the seat of the fire was hindered due to the attic being used for storage.
As conditions rapidly worsened and a partial roof collapse occurred, crews were forced to retreat and deploy a 1,000-gallon-per-minute aerial master stream to control the blaze.
The firefighting efforts lasted an hour before the fire was brought under control.
Both the resident and their pet were reported to have escaped safely. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
