Missouri – According tot he police officials, the 30-year-old dad, later identified as Mosses, and the 28-year-old mom, later identified as Destny, were arrested and later charged with multiple charges, including endangering the welfare of a child in the 1st degree in connection with their child’s death. Police officials say the parents reportedly knew the risk of their apartment wlndow, but failed to protect their 3-year-old child, Tittus, after the boy fell out of the window and died.
Authorities say both parents knew about the problem for at least 1 year, but faiIed to fix the window. Both parents reportedly knew that the window that couldn’t be kept closed or locked. The child fell on Monday and was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, the boy was pronounced dead the same day.
During an initial interview with investigators, the parents ‘were well aware of the safety hazards of their apartment window and that they knew the children had been able to bypass their attempts to secure the window and open it for a year’. The mother and father reportedly used a pole to keep the window from opening, but even their 3-year-old son knew how to remove it.
Authorities say it’s too early to say if someone else would face charges, referring to the management company. The child’s mom also told investigators that she was concerned from day one that one of her children would fall out the window. Both parents are being held on $100,000 bond. This incident remains under investigation. The victim’s family launched a fundraiser to collect money for funeral expenses.
