Eugene, OR – According to the officials, key achievements included the formation of a cross-departmental Public Space Team to address community reports of debris and misuse of public spaces, and embedding a Lane County Behavioral Health professional with downtown police officers, funded by the Community Payroll Safety Tax.

Additionally, a consortium of area homeless shelter operators was convened to improve efficiency and strategize funding options, while Eugene Springfield Fire increased wildfire resilience by creating a Wildfire Planning and Fuels Management Program.

The Oregon Legislature awarded $6 million for infrastructure extension to the Crow Road/West 11th area, supporting the future construction of approximately 1,200 housing units.

A downtown incident commander position was created to enhance public safety and cleanliness, and a re-imagined business liaison staff position now serves as a primary contact for local businesses.

The Strategic Plan, informed by the 2022 Community Survey of over 1,700 residents, aims to address top community priorities and guide City programs and services.
