EPD officers responded to a report of criminal trespass on Pearl Street, two in custody
Eugene, OR – According to the statement, Eugene Police Department officers responded to a report of criminal trespass at The Midtown apartments located at 1600 Pearl Street.
Security personnel had observed two individuals dressed in hoods, masks, and gloves, with backpacks, breaching the access door to the parking garage.
Upon arrival, officers swiftly took action as one of them witnessed the suspects breaking into vehicles within the garage. Coordinating their approach, a team of five officers positioned themselves strategically around a corner, awaiting the suspects’ exit.
As the suspects attempted to leave the scene, they were promptly apprehended by the waiting officers. Subsequent investigation led to the recovery of stolen property, which included a handgun, social security cards, driver’s licenses, key fobs, a full wallet, miscellaneous cash, and other items.
The suspects, identified as 29-year-old Corey Davis and 30-year-old James Marineau, were transported to Lane County Jail and booked on multiple charges. Davis faced charges including Burglary in the First Degree, Unlawful Possession of Burglary Tools, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Theft in the First Degree, Unauthorized Entry into a Motor Vehicle, and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree.
Marineau was charged with Burglary in the First Degree, Unlawful Possession of Burglary Tools, Theft in the First Degree, Unauthorized Entry into a Motor Vehicle, and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree.
The incident, identified as Case 24-10207, highlighted the effective collaboration between law enforcement and security personnel in addressing criminal activities within the community.
