Fire started in the kitchen caused house fire on Hawthrne Ave, no injuries reported

Eugene, OR – According to the Eugene Springfield Fire officials, this unfortunate incident occurred right before 5 p.m. Monday afternoon.
It happened on Hawthorne Ave.
Eugene Springfield firefighters were dispatched following multiple calls reporting a house explosion and visible smoke.
Engine 8 arrived on the scene in under four minutes to find a fire in a duplex with windows blown out due to the explosion.
The fire was swiftly contained to one side of the duplex, and two individuals were rescued from the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation.
