The City of Eugene recently allocated over $1.2 million in City Fee Assistance and System Development Charge Exemptions to support the construction of four upcoming affordable housing developments

on

Eugene, OR – According to the city officials, these developments aim to provide a total of 156 homes catering to lower-income households within the community.

The financial support provided by the city will either waive or cover fees associated with construction, including those linked to existing and planned public infrastructure as well as building permits.

By alleviating these costs, the initiative aims to make the development process more financially feasible for the organizations behind the projects.

The selected developments encompass a variety of housing options, ranging from homeownership opportunities to cooperative and rental housing. These initiatives target households with incomes at or below 60% of the area median income (AMI) for rental housing and 80% of AMI for ownership housing. For instance, for a family of four, this corresponds to an annual household income below $53,460 (60% AMI) or $71,300 (80% AMI).

The funds have been allocated to the following projects:

1. Rosa Village: This project, led by SquareOne Villages, will introduce 52 units of cooperative rental housing on Roosevelt Boulevard.

2. Floral Hill: DevNW’s initiative will bring 36 new affordable homes for ownership to Floral Hill Drive, utilizing a Community Land Trust (CLT) model to maintain long-term affordability.

3. The Lucy: Cornerstone Community Housing’s endeavor will add 36 new units of rental housing on Hunsaker Lane.

4. Park Run: Guardian’s mixed-income development on Garden Way will include 32 new units of rental housing.
