Eugene, OR – According to the Eugene Police Department officials, this incident occurred right after 6 a.m. early Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to a call about a Chevrolet Silverado that had just been stolen from a man’s driveway in the 300 block of Wilkie Street.

The responding officers spotted the stolen vehicle going eastbound on W. 7th Avenue near Van Buren Street and then several officers responded to the area.

The officer who had spotted the vehicle initiated a traffic stop but the driver, later identified as 44-year-old Freddie Davis, accelerated away.

There was a short pursuit, and officers attempted to forcibly stop the truck.

Davis was able to evade this and then rammed the officer’s vehicle. The truck became inoperable, and Davis was safely taken into custody.

David was transported to Lane County Jail and lodged on charges including Reckless Driving and Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, as well as two warrants. He was also cited for Driving While Suspended.
