Eugene, OR – The police officials have reported that they’ve received multiple reports of a caller who has used this technique to attempt to scam a victim out of their money.
The scammer said he was trying to raise money and cited tight budgets and police working hard. The number for this specific caller was from out of state, however, callers will often spoof numbers to make them appear local.
There are many scams out there that try to alarm or scare you. Others just prey on your situation, or the vulnerability caused by an incident or event.
If you are the victim of a scam and have incurred a loss, call the EPD non-emergency at (541) 682-5111.
