Man Arrested in Assault of 75-Year-Old at Downtown Library
A man accused of assaulting a 75-year-old woman at the Eugene Downtown Public Library has been arrested.
Police said a community member spotted the man, recognizing him from surveillance images, and reported it to police.
Jonathan Panday, 49, was arrested on Tuesday after an interview.
He was taken to the Lane County Jail on a second-degree assault charge.
The incident happened at about 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 17 when the woman was trying to return a library book, police said.
