Traffic stop near Cottage Grove leads to seizure of more than 40 pounds of methamphetamine
Oregon — A routine traffic stop on Interstate 5 near milepost 168 led to the seizure of over 40 pounds of methamphetamine and an arrest on Saturday, February 21.
Just before 11 a.m., an Oregon State Police trooper pulled over a northbound passenger vehicle after observing indicators of potential criminal activity. During a consent search of the vehicle, officers discovered a duffel bag in the trunk containing 40 resealable plastic bags of methamphetamine, weighing a total of 40.5 pounds.
The driver was taken into custody and arrested on charges of possession and distribution of methamphetamine. Authorities said the case remains under investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
