Sisters, 10 and 4, who died in Florida condo collapse, buried in the same coffin – rest in peace

Two young sisters pulled from the rubble of the collapsed Florida condo building were buried alongside their parents on Tuesday.

As per tragic reports, the girls, aged 4 and 10, were so small that they were placed in the same casket, their coffin draped with pink and purple ribbons.

The service for 10-year-old Lucia Guara and her 4-year-old sister, Emma, was held at their family’s Catholic parish, just three blocks away from the ruins of the Champlain Towers South building that collapsed without warning last week.

At the time of writing, more than 100 people are still missing, while over 35 have been confirmed dead. That latter number includes the Guara sisters and their parents.

During the service for Lucia and Emma, Reverend Juan J. Sosa said: “We still have about 15 of our other parishioners missing,” and reminded those in attendance that death does not define them.

He continued: “May we all connect with family as Lucia would. May we all move with grace as Emma would. May we all be as devoted and loyal as Marcus and Anaely were.”

Rescue teams continue to work hard to locate pockets of space in the rubble of the Champlain Towers South building where people may yet be alive.

At the weekend, demolition crews initiated a string of explosions to bring down the building’s remains. Rescue teams have since been given the green light to resume their work.
