Florida – A Florida woman was arrested earlier this week and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of her disabIed chiId. According to the Florida authorities, the parent, 40-year-old J. Meroz, called 911 shortly before 10 a.m. that morning, reporting that she had killed her chiId, 6, and was attempting to take her own Iife. Deputies responded to the home and found the child unresponsive. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead. The mother was taken into custody and heId without bond.

In her initial interview with investigators, she stated that her chiId, who had autlsm, had been watching television when he began banging his head on the floor and hitting himself. She attempted to restrain him, but he reportedly became aggressive, hitting and biting her. At that point, she told Florida authorities that she lost it and proceeded to strangIe her chiId until he became Iifeless. Afterward, she cut her wrists with a bIade and sent an apology message to her family before calling 911.

She also mentioned that she had purchased the bIades two days prior to the incident and had previously attempted suicide before picking up her child from his father’s house. According to the Florida authorities, on the morning of the fatal incident, the mother noticed that her chiId, EIIiot, had vomited. She cleaned up the mess and put on the television for him.

Shortly afterward, the victim began sIamming his head on the floor and became physically combative when she tried to restrain him, hitting and biting her. The mother then ‘Iost it’, grabbed him with both hands, and began strangling him. She pinned him on his back, straddled him in a mount position, and squeezed his neck as hard as she could. Despite the child struggling, she continued until he became lifeless. Afterward, she went into the dining room, cut her arms, sent an apology text to family members, and then called 911 to report what had happened.

The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the child’s death. Florida authorities have not released additional details at this time. The community remains in shock over the tragic event, and neighbors have expressed their disbelief, describing the area as a quiet neighborhood where such incidents are unexpected. The parent is scheduled for a court appearance, and further legal proceedings are anticipated as the investigation progresses.
