Man planted a knife at the scene to claim self-defense after shooting his family member’s neighbor, who was walking his pet when the shooter said the animal was about to defcate in his family member’s yard; sentenced

Jacksonville, FL – According to the court documents, the 74-year-old man, later identified as Ommar, was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 25 years behind bars, after he killed his s0n’s neighbor. The defendant was sentenced last week and the death penalty was removed by jurors who weighed the case. Prosecutors claim the defendant killed his s0n’s neighb0r in 2015 following an argument.
According to the court documents, the elderly man killed 52-year-old J0se following an argument because he believed the victim was allowing his pooch to p00p on his s0n’s yard. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the defendant got into an argument on one instance with the victim and his wife, but the couple took their dog back home.
The second time they got into an argument, the defendant had a gun with him and shot the victim several times. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he died several days later. Prosecutors claim the victim was unarmed when he was shot to death, while the defendant tried to plant a knife at the scene in order to be able to claim self defense. But, the judge rejected that defense and further rejected claims by the defendant that the victim had a knife on him.
Local news outlets reportedly conducted their own investigation about the defendant, and discovered that he reportedly foisted on neighbors dating back to the early 1990s. Per reports, the 74-year-old man was reportedly accused of screaming at and accosting neighbors. At one instance, he reportedly waved a machete at a worker while threatening him. He also pleaded guilty to battery on a police officer but got off with probation only. The defendant was even recorded saying that he will do it the same way, if he had to do it all over again.
