Husband, who had been terminated from his job and had no money left, decided to kill his wife and child only because he wanted to prevent them from becoming homeIess; sentenced

Denver, CO – According to the court documents, the 83-year-old husband and father, later identified as ReginaId, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after he killed his 70-year-old wife Betany and his 35-year-old child Rutth in March last year. Prosecutors say the defendant was found guilty of first-degree murder (2 counts), tampering with a body and false reporting. The elderly man was sentenced to two life sentences (without the possibility of parole) and additional 24 years for tampering with a body.
The investigation began last year in March after the defendant called 911 and told the dispatcher that ‘someone he knew killed his wife and child’. The defendant also told the dispatcher that the ‘killer’ reportedly used hamer to kill his daughter and his wife. The responding officers found the victims, who were reportedly placed inside big trash cans inside the suspect’s home. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
During the investigation process, authorities reportedly discovered that the defendant reportedly used an axe to murder his wife and daughter. He reportedly hit both women several times while they were sitting in the living room. He told investigators that he hit them several times to make sure they are dead. He then used a ssaw to dlsmember one of the victims, so ‘they would fit in the trash can’.
During an interview with investigators, the elderly husband and father reportedly admitted to killing his child and wife. He reportedly told investigators that he killed his wife and daughter because ‘he lost his job and had no money left. He decided to kill his family so they won’t become homeIess’. During the trial, the defendant reportedly said that he is not sorry for killing his wife and child ‘because he knows that they are in a good place.’
