HUMAN REMAINS BELIEVED TO BE MISSING EUGENE MAN
Human remains discovered near Lake Timpanogas on Monday are believed to be those of a missing Eugene man.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said on Saturday, September 7th, 2019, Roscoe Casita, age 37, was reported missing to the Eugene Police Department. Two days later, the man’s vehicle, a 2017 blue Subaru Outback, was located by family members at Lake Timpanogas. O’Dell said the lake is in the north east corner of Douglas County, about 93 miles northeast of Roseburg and 94 miles southeast of Eugene.
Multiple search missions by Douglas County Search and Rescue have taken place over the last year.
Monday, shortly after 10:30 a.m., Douglas County dispatchers received information relayed from the Lane County Sheriff’s Office that a man visiting Lake Timpanogas had discovered skeletonized remains in the forest.
O’Dell said deputies along with Search and Rescue units responded and recovered apparent human remains, believed to be those of Mr.Casita
The Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office is working with the Oregon State Medical Examiner to make positive identification and to certify the cause and manner of death. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
