Firefighters respond to fire at West Eugene mill shed
Eugene, OR – Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a fire at a mill in West Eugene on June 3rd, after a passerby reported a shed on top of the mill building near the intersection of 5th and Seneca just before 1 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke coming from the roof area.
Tower 2 deployed its ladder to access the roof and discovered a heavily damaged “dog house,” a shed-like ventilation structure commonly found in older manufacturing facilities.
The fire was largely controlled by the building’s sprinkler system and mill staff before firefighters arrived.
Fire crews conducted overhaul operations to ensure the fire was fully extinguished. No injuries were reported.
