Eugene woman arrested for DUII after allegedly speeding, swerving and refusing to exit vehicle, police say her blood alcohol level was .25%
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Police Department arrested a 33-year-old woman after an officer reportedly witnessed her speeding and swerving on Coburg Road early Thursday, Oct. 8.
At approximately 1:04 a.m., an officer saw a Subaru traveling erratically before the vehicle struck a raised median near Oakway, causing both driver’s-side tires to deflate. The officer then initiated a traffic stop in a nearby parking lot.
The driver, identified as Liesel Kristine Sanders, 33, of Eugene, reportedly had slurred speech and a strong smell of alcohol. According to police, Sanders denied drinking and refused multiple requests to exit the vehicle.
Officers had to physically remove her from the car, and she allegedly attempted to resist. She was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII) and reckless driving before being lodged at the Lane County Jail.
Police reported that Sanders’ blood alcohol content was measured at .25%, more than three times Oregon’s presumed legal limit of .08% for drivers. She eventually admitted to consuming several alcoholic beverages at a nearby bar before getting behind the wheel.
