Eugene Springfield Fire responds to gas leak after construction work strikes line, reminds residents to call 811 before digging
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Springfield Fire Department responded earlier today to an outside gas leak in the area of Bedford and Oakway in Eugene.
According to the department, the incident occurred after a gas line was struck during the construction of a residential driveway.
Crews were dispatched to the scene to secure the area and address the leak.
No additional details regarding injuries or evacuations were immediately released.
Following the response, fire officials reminded residents and contractors to always contact 811 before beginning any digging or excavation work.
The service is used to mark underground utilities in advance, helping prevent damage to gas lines and other infrastructure.
