Eugene Springfield Fire crews responded to structure fire on West 11th

Eugene, OR – Eugene Springfield Fire crews responded to a commercial fire in west Eugene early Wednesday morning.
At 1:08 AM on September 18th, the department received multiple reports of smoke and fire at the Wilco Farm Store on West 11th.
A commercial fire response was dispatched, including four engines, two ladder trucks, two chiefs, and an ambulance.
The first engine on the scene from Bailey Hill reported a working fire, with heavy smoke and visible flames coming from the front of the store.
Crews quickly extinguished the fire while checking for any breaches at the entrance.
It was determined that the sprinkler system had held the fire in check long enough for firefighters to arrive and fully extinguish it.
The fire is being treated as suspicious, and fire investigators are collaborating with building representatives to review video surveillance and determine the cause.
