Eugene police Street Crimes Unit investigation leads to multiple arrests, seized firearms, and narcotics near school

Eugene, OR – The Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit (SCU) conducted a drug-related search warrant on December 17, 2024, leading to multiple arrests and the seizure of firearms and narcotics near Kalapuya High School.
During the operation, officers searched the residence of Brandon Kyle McKelligett, 32, where they found three firearms, one of which was confirmed stolen. Investigators also recovered digital scales and narcotics packaging materials. Records indicated McKelligett is a convicted felon. He was charged with three counts of felon in possession of a firearm, theft by receiving a firearm, unlawful delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance (fentanyl) within 1,000 feet of a school, unlawful possession of a controlled substance Schedule II (fentanyl), and unlawful possession of methamphetamine (felony commercial drug offense).
While executing the warrant, SCU officers arrested Early Ryan Shorey, 28, who had an outstanding warrant. Shorey, identified as an associate of McKelligett, was observed engaging in a drug transaction in a parking lot before being taken into custody. Initially, he was lodged in jail on the outstanding warrant while officers continued their investigation. Further evidence led to additional charges, including unlawful delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, unlawful possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (felony), unlawful possession of methadone (commercial drug offense), and unlawful possession of methamphetamine (misdemeanor). Shorey was released before the new charges were officially filed.
On January 30, 2025, a Eugene police officer conducting a check at WinCo on Barger Drive noticed a Nissan Rogue parked improperly with its lights on and engine running. Inside, two men were found slumped over with drug paraphernalia. The officer identified one of the men as Shorey, who had an active attempt-to-locate notice for the previously filed charges. He was taken into custody and transported to Lane County Jail.
The vehicle’s driver, Ryan Reed Hagerman, 32, was arrested on a parole violation warrant. A search of his vehicle, conducted under a warrant, resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine, scales, and packaging materials. Hagerman was lodged in jail on the warrant and an additional charge of possession of methamphetamine in an amount of two grams or more.
