Eugene Police Department responds to cow on the loose, reunited with owner after quick action
Eugene, OR – According to the statement, a Community Service Officer with the Eugene Police Department was dispatched to the area of 36th Avenue and Willamette Street after reports of an unexpected visitor: a cow. Witnesses stated that the cow had fallen out of a trailer, with the driver unaware of the mishap. Two local residents, Sarah and Amira, were quick to act, corralling the cow into a nearby yard.
The officer arrived shortly afterward, followed by another Eugene police officer. However, the cow soon made a break for it, running out of the yard. The Community Service Officer chased after it and successfully got the animal into another backyard. Soon, Lane County Animal Welfare arrived to assist with the transportation of the cow to Greenhill.
It wasn’t long before the owner, realizing his cow was missing, contacted the Eugene Police Department. Dispatch was able to connect the Community Service Officer with the owner, and the missing cow, affectionately dubbed “Houdini” due to his impressive escape, was reunited with its owner. Thanks to the quick and cooperative efforts of the community and law enforcement, the incident ended on a happy note.
