Eugene, OR – Eugene Springfield Fire recently held a rare swearing-in ceremony welcoming four experienced firefighters from across western Oregon to its department.

According to Eugene Springfield Fire, the new members brought significant skills and prior experience to the agency and successfully completed an accelerated orientation program. Officials said the firefighters performed exceptionally well during training and are now ready to join their assigned crews.

The department noted that the hiring reflects a broader trend across the West Coast, where highly trained firefighters remain in high demand. Officials said recruiting experienced personnel helps strengthen response capabilities and ensures crews are prepared for emergency operations.

Eugene Springfield Fire described the addition of the four firefighters as a significant benefit to the department, emphasizing that bringing in seasoned personnel enhances operational readiness and supports public safety efforts throughout the region.

Department officials said the accelerated orientation process is designed to integrate experienced firefighters efficiently while maintaining high standards of training and safety. The newly sworn-in firefighters are now set to begin active duty with their respective crews.

Eugene Springfield Fire said the hiring marks a positive step for the department as it continues to build and maintain a strong workforce capable of responding to the community’s needs.
