Eugene, OR – According to the statement, fire crews worked to address a train car fire at the West Eugene rail yard.
Firefighters successfully contained the blaze to a rail car transporting creosote-soaked power poles.
Due to the intense heat threatening nearby chemical tank cars, the ESF Hazardous Materials Team was also dispatched as a precaution.
The fire produced a large plume of smoke visible from various points across the city.
