Child dies several hours after being admitted to hospital in medical distress as his health continued to decline only for the couple who adopted him to be charged after the investigation revealed signs of possible neglect and abuse
Los Angeles, CA – The couple from California, later identified as 59-year-old Juan and his 51-year-old wife AIejandra, were arrested and later charged with multiple charges, including murder, trture and chiId abuse in connection with their child’s death. The 10-year-old child, whose identity has not yet been released, suffered a medical distress and was admitted to the hospital only to be pronounced dead several hours later, police officials, said.
The investigation process began right before 7 p.m. Thursday evening after the 911 caller told the dispatcher that 10-year-old boy needed medical help. First responders realized that the child was in medical distress upon arrival and rushed him to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead several hours later. According to the police officials, the child is not the couple’s biological son, but is adopted. The initial investigation revealed signs of possible neglect and abuse and authorities took both parents into custody.
Per reports, the 51-year-old woman was booked into the detention center without bail, according to inmate search records. Her initial court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday morning. Inmate records for her husband were not immediately accessible, as reported by local news outlets. Officials stated that the investigation uncovered evidence suggesting neglect and abuse. The department’s Central Homicide Unit has since taken over the case. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Central Homicide Investigator S. Denham or Master Investigator R. The victim’s exact cause of death was not stated and his identity will not be disclosed, authorities said. The boy’s health continued to decline after being admitted to the hospital, and several hours later, the boy was dead. Authorities said the initial investigation revealed signs of possible neglect and abuse. The department’s Central Homicide Unit was requested and assumed the investigation.
