Child dies after her mom, who believed the girl was having indcent relations with the father of her other three children, took the 11-year-old to the basement and strangIed her to death; charges
Maryland – A Maryland mom, 34-year-old Keyana, was taken into custody and later charged with multiple charges, including first-degree murder in connection with her child’s death. Authorities say the parent killed her daughter at their family home because she ‘believed the 11-year-old girl was having lndecent reIations with the father of her other three children’. The child suffered bruises all over her body and had a strangulation mark on neck. Authorities believe the girl was beaten by her mom before she was strangIed to death. The 34-year-old woman is being held without bond, court records say.
The investigation process began last week after the 911 caller told the dispatcher about a child in cardiac arrest. The responding officers made contact with the mother and found the child covered with bruises. First responders pronounced the girl dead at the scene. During an interview with investigators, the 34-year-old mom reportedly said that ‘someone was trying to set her up’ before claiming that she believes that her child has been having lndecent reIations with the father of her other three children.
During the investigation process, authorities didn’t find any evidence that the child was the victim of any type of abuse. Authorities also confirmed that the defendant was alone with the victim and her other children at the time of the fatal incident. Authorities also found several deceased animals inside the home, later realizing that the woman reportedly killed them to threaten her daughter what ‘would happen to her if she didn’t tell the truth about the alleged relationship with the girl’s father.’
During the investigation process, authorities reportedly spoke with one of the woman’s other children, who reportedly told them that she saw her mom choking her sibling in the basement. One of the victim’s family members reportedly said that she made several calls to local agencies and was repeatedly rerouted. Just one day before the fatal incident, someone within child protective services finally assisted in initiating a welfare check. Unfortunately, the child was found dead the following day.
