Back To Work? COVID Relief Childcare Now Offered At Eugene’s Community Centers
Eugene has three community centers–Peterson Barn serves families in the west. Sheldon operates in the north. And in the southeast, there’s Amazon Community Center. They just expanded COVID Relief Childcare. Michael Cole is a program coordinator.
“This is for families going back to work,” Cole said, “a lot of folks are in this interim period–their children would normally be in school but now they will need childcare until we get to summer.”
Cole says each of the Rec centers operate under strict health and safety protocols. They take each child’s temperature daily and observe social distancing.
Childcare schedules vary and there is a cost but Cole says families may apply for a discount if needed. The programs will run through June 19th.
