Alesong Brewing & Blending opening a second location
I don’t too often get to do it, but I recently enjoyed a couple of beers from Alesong Brewing & Blending. Simply put, both beers were amazing. You are probably not surprised if you are familiar with this brewery, located in the rolling hills about 30 minutes south of Eugene, Oregon.
Alesong Brewing & Blending announced today that they are opening a second location, this one in downtown Eugene. The new tasting room will be located in the 5th Street Market commercial district. Here’s a press release with more details.
After nearly five years of cultivating a brewery dedicated to artisan, barrel-aged beers, Alesong Brewing and Blending is opening a second location in Eugene. They’ve chosen to move into the 5th Street Market commercial district, taking their spot next to the high-end restaurants and hip wine bars already sprinkled throughout the area.
Alesong co-founder and brewmaster Matt Van Wyk says the second location in Eugene will elevate experiences for their Blender’s Circle bottle club as well as offer an in-town getaway like the relaxing wine country ambiance created at the original brewery and tasting room. “Out in the country, with the beautiful view and great company, beer tastes better, jokes are funnier and good days are made great,” chuckles Van Wyk. “We plan on bringing that atmosphere to 5th Street and sharing what we’ve created — just a little closer to home.” The new location will open from 12-8, daily starting November 20th and offer a wide array of barrel-aged beers and small bites like cheese and charcuterie.
With the new tasting room’s outdoor roof deck patio open, Alesong plans to keep the country brewery and tasting room open for private guided tasting experiences as well as on weekends for Blender’s Circle club members’ exclusive use. “With an in-town location, we’ll have somewhere for people to come and get introduced to what we’ve created at Alesong, while also giving us the unique opportunity to provide an intimate and more exclusive experience for our members and anyone who wants a closer look,” says co-founder Doug Coombs. Private tastings will be appointment-only and include limited vintage bottle pours, expertly paired small plates, and an in-depth overview of Alesong’s unique production process. www.alesongbrewing.com/visit
What this move really means for Alesong is another step forward, further elevating the beer experience for their community: More intimate interactions, thoughtful pairing dinners, collaborations with local artisans, and sharing the complex and unique beer they win awards for year after year.
ABOUT ALESONG BREWING AND BLENDING: Alesong Brewing and Blending is a small artisan brewery based in the heart of Southern Willamette Valley wine country that crafts unique and small-batch beers with a focus on oak aging and Belgian-inspired techniques, brewing both wild and non-wild beers, using locally grown fruits, herbs and a host of special yeasts and other microbes. Once the beer in the barrels has matured, the team samples and selects each barrel individually to blend. Paying homage to old-world Lambic blenders and artisan winemakers, Alesong believes that the final, balanced blend of a barrel-aged beer is much more satisfying than the sum of its parts or each individual barrel by itself.
