Eugene police arrest 18-year-old suspect in March 3 fatal shooting near 23rd and Willamette
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on March 3 in the area of East 23rd Avenue and Willamette Street.
Eighteen-year-old Levi Rosenthal Eva of Eugene was taken into custody on April 16 by detectives with the Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit. He is accused of killing 24-year-old Bryon Jivan Fitzgerald, also of Eugene.
Eva has been charged with multiple felony offenses, including murder, assault, robbery, and unlawful use of a weapon. He is currently being held at the Lane County Jail.
The charges stem from a shooting incident that involved individuals who were known to each other. At the time of the incident, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area. One person was transported to the hospital but later died from their injuries.
As part of the investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in south Eugene on the day of Eva’s arrest. The investigation remains active.
