Eugene, OR – Mobile Crisis Services of Lane County has been operational since August 2024, offering on-demand crisis services to those in need throughout Lane County. In the short period since its launch, the program has responded to over 1,300 confirmed behavioral health crisis calls, resolving 80% of those incidents on-site.

Each MCS-LC team is made up of licensed mental health professionals trained in crisis intervention. With an average response time of just 20 minutes, the teams work quickly to assess and support individuals in distress. Teams typically spend an average of 35.5 minutes on-site to ensure the proper care and attention is given to each person they assist.

MCS-LC aims to provide equitable, person-centered crisis services, focusing on de-escalating acute crises while maintaining the dignity, safety, and well-being of those they help. Their services often prevent unnecessary trips to emergency rooms and offer follow-up care to ensure long-term support.

Some of the services MCS-LC provides include:
– Crisis de-escalation and safety planning
– Access to licensed mental health professionals
– Coordination with existing providers and resources
– Direct referrals for behavioral health care
– Transportation coordination
– Follow-up check-ins within 72 hours
– Naloxone administration (Narcan)

Residents of Eugene and the surrounding area who are in need of mobile crisis services can reach MCS-LC by calling or texting 988, calling the 24/7 Lane County Crisis Line at 541-682-1001, or by dialing 911. Operators will direct calls to MCS-LC as necessary.

Currently, MCS-LC operates from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week. By the end of April, the program plans to expand its hours to include a shift from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the goal of offering 24/7 coverage by this summer.
