Houston, TX – According to the police officials, the young parent, later identified as 21-year-old Junniper, was arrested and later charged with sale or purchase of a child after she reportedly wanted to seII her chiId on social media. Prosecutors said the young woman, who is struggling with substance abuse, wanted to sell the newborn after an argument with the adoptive parents. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the mother posted in social media group that ‘she would be happy to travel to a family in order to have the baby taken off her hands’.

According to the police officials, the woman even contacted a family member, who was not identified, to have the baby taken off her hands, noting that the baby would be drug-positive. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the woman contacted nearly 10 people over the potential adoption of her baby. Most of the contacted people were same-se* couples or couples who were struggling to get pregnant themselves. During the conversation with the potential adoptive parents, the woman asked for payment. She reportedly told them that she needs ‘just enough to move into an apartment so she can work a job and get a car’.

One same-se* couple traveled from Louisiana to Texas to see the woman about the adoption only to turn around and go back home when she asked them to send her $200. The investigation process began when a woman, Wendy, wanted to adopt Junniper’s baby. The baby was delivered at the end of September and Wendy and her husband were given signed documents that they have the ability to make legal decisions on behalf of the baby. Just 2 days after the baby was born, the biological mother posted a photo of the baby and tagged the adoptive mother.

Shortly after, people on social media started writing bad things about the adoptive parent, asking her ‘how dare you buy this baby?’. When the adoptive parent asked the biological mother about the comments, she reportedly told the hospital staff to remove the adoptive parent from the room. Shortly after, the adoptive parent called 911 and notified the CPS. When the investigation process began, the biological mother revoked the custody of the baby. The newborn is now in custody with the mother’s friend, but Wendy hopes that she will regain custody of the child.
