Mom says her child was staying at her grandparent’s home for the summer only for the girl to be killed by her 4 years older reIative following a fight over a smartphne

TENNESSEE – According to the girl’s mom, Rayena, her child, later identified as 8-year-old Demerla, was killed by her 4 years older relative following an argument over a smartphone. The unfortunate mom told local news outlets that her child, who was staying at the grandma’s home for the summer, was killed by the 12-year-old girl, whose identity has not yet been released, after the girls had an argument over a smartphone.

The fatal incident occurred on Monday, police officials said. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the 12-year-old reportedly used beding to sufocate her relative to death before reposltioning her body. Police officials also said that the child killed her relative while the little girl was sleeping in her bed. The 12-year-old then cleaned up the bed and moved the victim’s body. 

During an interview with investigators, the victim’s mom reportedly said that her child and her relative were staying at their grandparent’s home for the supper. During the investigation process, authorities reportedly discovered that the child killed her younger relative over a smartphone. 

The DA’s office released a statement, saying that the office is petitioning Juvenile Judge Johnson to transfer the child to Circuit Court to be tried as an adult. The 12-year-old, who was not identified, was charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. The DA’s office said that they are hoping for the maximum sentence. The victim’s family launched a fundraiser to collect money for funeral costs.
