Parent who left his child in vehicIe in the famiIy driveway for more than 3 hours to die claims he got ‘dlstracted by playing his gaming consoIe and putting his food away’
Phoenix, AZ – According to the police officials, the 37-year-old dad, Cristopher, was taken into custody last week and later charged with second-degree murder after he reportedly left his child in a hot vehicle and faiIed to check on the girl for more than 3 hours because he was playing video games. During the investigation process, authorities also discovered that the parent reportedly knew that the vehicle’s AC will shut off eventually. Police officials said that messages between the father and the girl’s mother reportedly revealed that the father knew that his vehicle’s AC will turn off after 30 minutes.
During an initial interview with investigators, the victim’s dad reportedly said that he left his 2-year-old child, Parcer, inside his vehicle because she was sleeping. He left the vehicle park outside their home, while he went inside. He also told investigators that he left his daughter for 30 minutes before he checked on her and found her unresponsive. The temperature outside was 111F, police officials said.
During the investigation process, authorities reportedly discovered that the child was inside the vehicle for more than 3 hours. The victim’s mom returned home from work only to find her daughter in the vehicle unresponsive. The child was then rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead. When the child was taken to the hospital, the wife reportedly messaged her husband: “l told you to stop leaving them in the car, how many times have I told you.”
The victim’s siblings, who were not identified due to their age, reportedly told authorities that their dad regularly left all three of them alone in the car. Authorities also discovered that the parent ‘was busy playing his gaming consoIe and putting his food away’ while his child was dying in the vehicle. Surveillance video also revealed that the father never went outside to check on his child, while she was dying, until the victim’s mom got home and asked where her child is.
