Officials declared the start of fire season for Eugene and the surrounding areas of Lane County

Eugene, OR – Oregon Department of Forestry officials released a statement, saying that effective from 12:01 a.m. on Monday, July 1, they brought new restrictions and guidelines for the community to follow.
With an anticipated hot weather pattern approaching, ODF also announced that starting at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, the Western Lane District would elevate to High (Yellow) fire danger for general public use and Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) 2 in area WT-1, which includes the valley side of the coast range.
These public use restrictions apply to activities on both public and private properties. Residents and visitors are encouraged to refer to the provided chart for specific guidelines and restrictions on activities during this period. The chart and further details can be found on the ODF website.
The ODF urges everyone to exercise caution and adhere to the restrictions to prevent any fire-related incidents. Updates on the fire season status and restrictions will be posted regularly on the ODF Western Lane webpage and can also be accessed through the recorded phone message line at 541-935-2222.
The ODF thanked the community for their cooperation and emphasized the importance of safety during this heightened fire danger period.
