City crews continue to address storm-related damage to street trees in the public right of way, officials say

Eugene, OR – According to the statement, city crews are moving as quickly as they can to resolve all significant tree-related hazards,  working methodically in neighborhoods around the city.

Community members can assist in this process by following these guidelines:

  • Until all hazards have been resolved, community members are urged to be especially aware of their surroundings.
  • Please avoid parking under or near trees that have caution tape wrapped around them, have large visible broken branches still hanging, or are in front of tree debris piles.
  • Do not put debris from private property trees into the road. These piles impede crews’ ability to access City street tree debris and will not be picked up by city crews.
  • Where vehicles are blocking access to trees or debris piles, City staff set up signs instructing owners to move their vehicles within 24 hours. Vehicles that remain in posted no-parking areas after the 24 hours may be towed so crews can access debris.

Debris sites:

Lane County has announced three free debris drop-off sites that will be available 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Jan. 26-Feb. 11 :

  • Hendricks Bridge Park
    • East of milepost 10 on Highway 126 East
  • Cloverdale
    • Bradford Road North, just past the intersection with Cloverdale Road east of Creswell
  • Sears Road
    • 78712 Sears Road, Cottage Grove
